I am pleased to unveil the plans for a new Chermside Library and North Regional Business Centre on the corner of Hamilton Road and Kittyhawk Drive, Chermside.
Brisbane City Council will soon start construction on redeveloping the current Chermside Library into a purposebuilt community precinct, which will also include the North Regional Business Centre and local ward office. With more than half a million visitors every year,
the Chermside Library will be transformed into a bigger community space with more meeting rooms and community facilities. By bringing these Council services together in one location, we are making it easier and more convenient for residents to access services and do business in Brisbane. The first major milestone for this project is relocating the current library to 960 Gympie Road, Chermside in late July 2015. The new precinct is expected to open in late 2016, weather permitting.
During construction, the Chermside Pool and Aquatic Centre and the Kedron Wavell Services Club will remain open for business and parking impacts will be kept to a minimum. I thank you for your patience while we transform this site.
